Perhaps it is time to listen to Abraham Lincoln who paraphrased Jesus by stating: “A house divided against itself cannot stand.”
All this back and forth between the left and right about who hacked whom and who is cozier with the Russians makes Vladimir grin from ear to ear. In the “good old days” The KGB called the US “The Main Adversary.” Does anybody think that changed? If the froth that is currently being generated in the public realm gets too thick, there is a danger that the adversary again becomes an enemy and we are looking at Cold War 2.0 – a scary proposition for all who lived through 1.0. When we get to a point where a Republican thinks that the Democrats are the main enemy and vice versa, we are in trouble (see Lincoln / Jesus).
Let the intelligence professionals do intelligence work. It is a practice that few understand, fewer learn, and even fewer practice. By nature it is and will stay secret (of course it needs supervision, but not by self-serving politicians, fast talking journalists and my grandmother).
